Heather Skau is the photographer and graphic designer behind Catch a Star Fine Art.

Heather's fascination with photography dates to early childhood. She spent her allowance on rolls of film and flash cubes and learned to develop black-and-white prints in a basement darkroom. But for many years, her art remained a hobby.

After college, Heather spent a decade in a first responder job before switching gears entirely and diving headfirst into building a career as a self-taught photographer. For 15 years, she ran her busy portrait studio and photographed hundreds of beautiful babies, families and weddings. During this time, her design skills blossomed as well, as she created countless unique collages and holiday cards for her clients.

Heather is a lifelong admirer of the beach, plants, nature, travel and being outdoors. In 2017 she decided to combine these passions with her photographic and design knowledge and turn her professional attention to art photography for home decor. Her work has a strong focus on coastal themes and botanicals, and she loves finding the perfect natural light to showcase her subjects.

Heather lives on a few beautiful, wooded acres in Southwest Florida with her family and their pets.
